About the Role
Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Hardware Configuration Management Specialist to join an industry-leading aerospace and defense engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration management (CM) processes for complex hardware systems across the entire product lifecycle.
Working closely with cross-functional engineering and program leadership, you will ensure rigorous documentation, strict traceability, and total control of hardware assets. Additionally, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing on-demand support to design and program management teams contributing to trade studies, technical consultations, CM tool optimization, DevOps integration, and specialized program initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational and interpersonal skills, combined with a sharp focus on quality and continuous process improvement.

Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off
Compensation: up to $107,500
Senior Hardware Configuration Management Specialist Key Responsibilities:
CM Process Execution: Implement and maintain hardware configuration management processes in alignment with industry standards and program requirements.
Documentation & Data Control: Manage hardware configuration records, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, specifications, and change notices.
Change Management & CCB Leadership: Drive configuration change control, conduct impact analyses, manage approval workflows, and facilitate Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings.
Baseline & Version Control: Track hardware baselines, inventory, and version control across all phases: development, testing, and production.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to guarantee hardware configuration accuracy and consistency.
Audits & Data Verification: Support internal and external configuration audits, data reviews, and compliance checks.
Tool & Repository Management: Leverage industry-standard PLM/CM software to manage product data repositories and baselines.
Program Flexibility: Support overtime or flexible business hours as required to hit critical program milestones.
Senior Hardware Configuration Management Specialist Requirements:
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Security Clearance: Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph (Must be active/in-use; US Citizenship required, no visa sponsorship).
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of related experience, OR
Master’s/Graduate Degree with 0–2 years of related experience, OR
High School Diploma / Equivalent with 6+ years of direct related experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Technical Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical discipline.
Domain Experience: 3+ years of CM experience focused on hardware or complex systems within the aerospace, defense, or electronics sectors.
Industry Standards: Practical knowledge of configuration management frameworks (e.g., EIA-649, ANSI, MIL-STD-973).
PLM/CM Tools: Hands-on proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management tools (e.g., PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, or equivalent).
Technical Documentation: Ability to read and interpret Statements of Work (SOWs), engineering drawings, schematics, and parts lists.
Certifications: Professional CM certification (CMPIC, CMII, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Process Improvement: Background in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time-management skills with a strong sense of urgency.
