About the Role
Seeking an Automation Control Engineer responsible for optimizing service operations and strategy. You'll plan, measure, report, and consult on service improvement initiatives, recommending actions to optimize investments and mitigate risks. This role involves complete vendor management (identification, onboarding, governance), collaborating on requisitions and payments, and ensuring project design and software configuration adhere to all security and development standards.

Schedule: Second Shift/Split Shift (7pm-3AM)
Compensation: $80-100+k
Automation Control Engineer Requirements/Competencies:
Essential Requirements:
5+ years in Automation & Controls manufacturing.
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Instrumentation Technology
Skilled in people management, training, and communication (knowledge transfer).
Experience with high-speed packaging lines and production equipment in food, chemical, or pharma industries.
Familiar with SAP (PM, work order, asset management), Putty, and Cisco Network Switches.
Proven PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience (industrial/manufacturing).
Proficient in programming languages (ladder, structured text, function block) with Allen-Bradley PLC expertise.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation: HMIs, VFDs, and motor control systems.
Understands Basic Electronics & Electrical Theory.
Solid grasp of control systems, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and industrial networking protocols.
Proficient in reading electrical and instrumentation schematics/manuals.
Knowledge of instrumentation principles (sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves).
High attention to detail and commitment to quality work and safety protocols.

Automation Control Engineer Responsibilities:
Maintenance, Repair, & Troubleshooting: Assist electricians with routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of control systems, automation, and instrumentation. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues rapidly using analytical skills to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
System Optimization & PM: Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement modifications for enhanced productivity, quality, and safety. Proactively suggest control, automation, and instrumentation system enhancements. Execute planned Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs to anticipate and prevent breakdowns.
PLC Programming & Configuration: Develop and implement PLC programs/control strategies to automate manufacturing processes and improve overall efficiency. Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation devices for proper operation and integration.
Diagnostics & Data Analysis: Conduct routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of PLC systems, resolving electrical, mechanical, and programming issues. Monitor and analyze production data, system performance, and equipment feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and modifications. Generate reports on equipment performance, failures, and improvements to support continuous improvement and decision-making.
Training, Supervision, & Knowledge: Provide training and support to operators and maintenance personnel on PLC programming, troubleshooting, and safe handling of automation equipment. Supervise and develop shift electricians. Stay current on technological advancements/best practices and share knowledge with the team.
